چکیده
Abstract Background Pilonidal disease is seen at sacrococcigeal region in prevalent number of cases. We present an unusual case abscess lumbar which turned out to be a pilonidal sinus. Case presentation A 18-year-old male presented the outpatient clinic with swelling area for 1 month. Physical examination revealed inflammatory infiltrate 1,5*1,5cm, fluctuation, located projection L4-L5 vertebrae. The initial diagnosis was made. Initial management During incision and drainage 10 ml malodorous purulent discharge emerged along collection hair. subcutaneous tract run caudally 8 cm close upon gluteal cleft, where midline pit discovered. Diagnosis Based on clinical intraoperative findings final sacrolumbar Investigation X-ray asymmetric, deformed L5 vertebrae, possibility being developmental variation. concurrent osteomyelitis put into question, rejected based results CT that no bone-destructive pathology. Final After healing surgical wound sinusectomy cleft accomplished inpatient setting, additional interventions regarding were performed. Outcome patient monitored intermittently after 9 months signs recurrence observed. Conclusion Draining sinus cyst able spread apparently distant location can markedly complicate diagnosis.

Unexpected location of pilonidal sinuses.
Pilonidal sinuses usually occur in the sacrococcygeal area in young men, and occasionally can be found in other ectopic sites. We present a retrospective case review on unusual locations of pilonidal sinuses in the past 4 years. The lesion sites were as follows: one on the penis, two on the scalp, two on the abdomen, one on the neck, two in the groin and two in the axilla. Abdominal and penile ...

Pilonidal disease is a common anorectal problem that typically affects young people. Numerous surgical procedures have been described, but treatment failure and disease recurrence are frequent, leading to considerable morbidity in these otherwise healthy patients. To manage this problem successfully, surgeons must consider the pathogenesis and presentation of the disease and weigh the advantage...
متن کاملCan Prostate Specific Antigen Be Used as New Biomarker for Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer?
Introduction: As a glycoprotein, Plasma Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is mainly produced by prostate epithelial cells and is used as a major diagnostic tool for prostate cancer. A group of researchers relate the elevated number of estrogen receptors in breast cancer samples to the over-production of PSA in this type of cancer. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the participants' ...
متن کاملDelayed phases of contrast MRI, can it be valuable in multiple sclerosis active phase diagnosis?
Background: Observing the enhancing plaques in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most valuable diagnostic modalities in confirming the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS), its recurrence and for better detection of active disease. Since active lesions discovery can improve designating diffusion in time diagnosis of MS and controlling disease activity, and there is not any definite...
متن کاملThe Cholinergic System Can Be of Unexpected Importance in Osteoarthritis
The main belief is that joints such as the knee and ankle joints are not innervated by nerves with a cholinergic function. That includes the assumption that these joints are not innervated by the vagus nerve (van Maanen et al., 2009a, see also Grimsholm et al., 2008). Accordingly, there is actually no morphologic proof of a cholinergic innervation of the knee joint, nor of the ankle joint. Desp...
